Sebagai wujud kemarahan, Netanyahu memutuskan menunda pembebasan lebih dari 600 tahanan Palestina sampai sandera Israel berikutnya dibebaskan Hamas tanpa seremonial.
Kantor Perdana Menteri Israel, dalam pernyataannya pada Minggu (23/2/2025) dini hari, mengungkapkan bahwa Israel menunda untuk membebaskan 620 tahanan Palestina hingga pembebasan sandera berikutnya dipastikan, dan tanpa upacara yang memalukan.
Terbaru, Israel dan Hamas mengatakan mereka mencapai kesepakatan untuk menukar sandera Israel yang tewas dengan ratusan sandera Palestina.
Pada Rabu (26/2) kepala Hamas di Gaza, Khalil Al-Hayya, menyebut pihaknya telah mencapai kesepakatan untuk menyelesaikan perselisihan dengan Israel dan menegaskan komitmennya terhadap gencatan senjata.
Sebelumnya, potret yang memperlihatkan sandera Israel, Omer Shem-Tov, mencium kening pejuang Hamas pada pekan lalu menjadi perbincangan.
