Menurutnya, Teheran sudah tidak lagi layak dihuni.
Hal itu lantaran Teheran mengalami krisis air yang kian memburuk, pertumbuhan kota yang berlebihan, serta ancaman penurunan tanah (subsidence) yang semakin mengkhawatirkan.
Dalam kunjungannya ke Provinsi Hormozgan, Pezeshkian mengaku telah mengajukan rencana pemindahan ibu kota kepada Pemimpin Tertinggi Iran, Ali Khamenei, sejak tahun lalu.
