Hal ini disampaikan Biden setelah penampilannya dalam debat capres dengan Donald Trump dinilai buruk, dan memicu kepanikan di kalangan Partai Demokrat.
Dikutip dari media lokal AS, The Hill, Jumat (28/6/2024), Biden mengakui kemampuannya dalam berbicara tak selancar dulu.
Namun, ia mengklaim masih bisa membedakan mana yang benar dan mana yang salah.
Biden juga mengaku paham bagaimana caranya menyelesaikan suatu pekerjaan.
"Saya tahu saya bukan seorang pemuda. Saya tidak berjalan semudah dulu. Saya tidak berbicara semulus dulu. Saya tidak berdebat sebaik dulu," kata Biden.
Adapun debat calon presiden AS digelar di studio CNN di Atlanta pada Kamis (27/6/2024) malam.
Publik menyoroti penampilan Biden yang tampak lemah dan berulang kali gagap menyusun kalimat.
Hal ini memicu kekhawatiran dari anggota partainya sendiri bahwa di usia Biden yang ke-81, tidak akan sanggup memimpin negara selama empat tahun ke depan.
Ketua DPR Mike Johnson bahkan mengusulkan agar Biden dicoret dari pencalonan dan dicopot dari jabatannya.
Menurutnya, kondisi presiden saat ini menempatkan AS dalam situasi yang berbahaya.
