Kapal tersebut dijuluki hantu karena berbeda dengan kapal nuklir biasanya.
Yakni, kapal milik militer Rusia mampu menghilang dari radar saat berlayar di bawah lapisan es Samudra Arktik.
Putin menganggap kemampuan kapal itu sebagai keunggulan militer yang dimiliki Rusia di tengah persaingan global.
Dilansir dari Tribunnews.com, pernyataan itu disampaian Putin pada Jumat (22/8).
“Kapal selam nuklir strategis kami berlayar di bawah es Samudra Arktik dan menghilang dari radar. Dan inilah keunggulan militer kami,” tegas Putin.
Putin mengungkapkan, kapal hantu itu diberi nama Knyaz Pozharsky.
Kapal itu termasuk dalam kelas Borei generasi keempat.
Menurut Putin, kapal selam terbaru Rusia itu dilengkapi sistem elektronik canggih, senjata kejut strategis.
Selain itu, juga dilengkapi rudal balistik Bulava dengan jangkauan hingga 8.000 kilometer.
Memiliki panjang sekira 170 meter dan bobot 24 ribu ton, kapal selam ini bisa berlayar dengan kecepatan maksimum 46 km/jam di bawah laut.
Lantas, kapasitas itu menjadikan kapal selam nuklir terbesar dan paling modern di dunia.
