Indian security forces have imposed a curfew in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, as violent clashes broke out between the police and protesters demanding statehood for the federal territory. At least four people have been killed and several others have been injured. Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike on a hunger strike for statehood restoration, called off his fast as tensions erupted in the region.---
