Netanyahu responds after Trump announces Israel, Hamas peace deal
We are hearing the latest after President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have agreed to the "first phase" of his peace plan. This deal includes a pause in fighting and the release of some hostages and prisoners. Learning more tonight with LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall is political analyst Alon Burstein, who is a visiting Assistant Professor and an Israel Institute Fellow in the Department of Political Science at Tufts University."This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace," Trump wrote. "All Parties will be treated fairly!"
Netanyahu said he would convene the government on Thursday in order to approve the deal. "I thank President Trump and his team from the bottom of my heart for their commitment to this sacred mission of freeing our hostages," Netanyahu said.
