Langkah dari Prancis yang disampaikan Presiden Emmanuel Macron, membuat Israel semakin marah.
Menyusul pengakuan serupa oleh empat negara Barat lainnya yakni Inggris, Kanada, Australia, dan Portugal pada hari Minggu.
Macron lah yang memimpin pertemuan puncak PBB yang telah mendorong sejumlah pemerintah Barat membuat pengakuan untuk Negara Palestina.
Macron menegaskan soal ini waktu yang tepat membebaskan 48 sandera yang ditawan Hamas.
Langkah lima negara Barat ini telah meningkatkan tekanan terhadap Israel yang tengah mengintensifkan perang brutalnya di Gaza yang telah menewaskan puluhan ribu orang.
Macron sebelumnya mengatakan bahwa dia akan menjadikan pembebasan sandera yang ditawan Hamas dalam serangannya terhadap Israel pada 7 Oktober 2023 sebagai prasyarat untuk membuka Kedutaan Besar Prancis di Negara Palestina.
Rezim Zionis Israel semakin marah dengan bergabungnya Prancis dalam daftar negara Barat yang mengakui Negara Palestina.
Para menteri sayap kanan Israel terus mendesak Perdana Menteri Israel Benjamin Netanyahu untuk mencaplok Tepi Barat, yang membuat pendirian Negara Palestina menjadi mustahil.
Duta Besar Israel untuk Perserikatan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB), Danny Danon, memperingatkan, "Kami akan mengambil tindakan."
"Waktunya perdamaian telah tiba, karena kita hanya beberapa saat lagi tidak dapat meraihnya lagi," ujar Macron dalam pertemuan puncak tersebut.
