Peristiwa ini berawal dari rudal jet tempur F-16 yang ditembakkan oleh Israel gagal meledak.
Brigade Al-Quds Hamas kemudian mengambil rudal itu dan memanfaatkannya untuk menyerang Israel.
Dalam pernyataannya, kelompok tersebut mengatakan sengaja memancing IDF masuk ke sebuah gerung yang mempunyai mulut terowongan.
Rudal F-16 tersebut digunakan dalam jebakan yang dipasang oleh Al-Qassam.
Dikutip dari Al Jazeera, peristiwa itu terjadi di Distrik Shujayea di Kota Gaza.
Jebakan itu dilaporkan merenggut nyawa empat tentara Israel dan melukai lima lainnya.
Brigade Al-Qassam Hamas mengatakan para pejuangnya juga terlibat dalam pertempuran sengit dalam serangan yang menggunakan roket antitank dan senjata api kecil.
Menurut Institut Kajian Perang (ISW) dan Proyek Ancaman Kritis (CTP), para pejuang Palestina telah melancarkan setidaknya 24 serangan terhadap pasukan Israel yang mulai bergerak ke Shujayea pada hari Kamis.
Jumlah serangan itu termasuk banyak. Adapun serangan terbanyak Hamas terjadi ketika Israel menyerbu Jabalia pada bulan Mei lalu, yakni sebanyak 33 serangan dalam 24 jam.(*)
