Menanggapi hal tersebut, Direktur Jenderal Penyelenggaraan Haji dan Umroh Kementerian Agama Hilam Latief menegaskan bahwa pihaknya tidak menjual kuota tambahan dari Pemerintah Arab Saudi.
Adapun Indonesia mendapatkan kuota tambahan sebanyak 20 ribu dari Pemerintah Arab Saudi. Dengan begitu, Indonesia yang awalnya mendapatkan 221.000 kuota bertambah menjadi 241.000.
Kuota tambahan tersebut diberikan hasil kunjungan Presiden Joko Widodo ke Arab Saudi.
