Insiden tersebut terjadi sekitar pukul 10.30 WIB saat korban DB (20) berenang.
DB diketahui datang seorang diri ke Pantai Parangtritis pukul 07.30 WIB.
Sekretaris Satlinmas Rescue Istimewa (SRI) Wilayah Operasi III Pantai Parangtritis Parangtritis, Rodhiva Wahyu Widiho Santosa mengatakan korban ingin menikmati liburan di pantai.
Kemudian, sekira pukul 10.00 WIB korban bermain air di dekat area rip current.
Korban sebenarnya bisa berenang, akan tetapi korban merasa kesulitan saat ingin menepi ke pantai.
Lalu DB memberi tanda permintaan pertolongan.(*)
